Leadership for Change Program (LFC)

We are dedicated to empower, inspire and educate emerging leaders through leadership empowerment training across Myanmar. Since early 2019, PPM has been implementing the Leadership for Change Program to support dynamic, collaborative, rising leaders from across Myanmar.  The Leadership for Change program aims at developing future leaders and empowering and equipping youth to be active human rights defenders and social changemakers in Myanmar. The program aims at building up the leadership capacity and strengthening leadership skills of diverse youth to raise their collaboration and participation in peace-building processes and build a constructive engagement at the community level.

The Program empowers and gives confidence to the youth and strengthen their abilities to make a difference in their communities, to identify innovative solutions to complex local problems, and bring changes through shared value-based leadership. The program gives emerging leaders to take their work to the next level through skills-based, and hands-on learning. PPM offers quarterly Leadership training for all interested youth in particular minority youths from conflict-affected communities.

The library projects

Since 2012 communal violence escalated, the tension, anger, distrust among diverse communities arise higher that leads to the segregation of diverse communities and demote social cohesion. Due to the conflicts, young people lost opportunities to further study and children didn’t get access to formal education since 2012 in Rakhine state.

The PPM’s new project is looking to supply Myanmar’s vulnerable youth with educational materials, reaching all ages and backgrounds. Our goal is to create an accepting, fun, judgment-free zone with educational activities for all. The PPM’s Library project aims to offer education to those in vulnerable situations by offering fun activities and learning materials to all. We will be making sure that these children get access to education and support. Our aim is to create a comfortable and educational environment for those living in extreme poverty as we believe no one should go without education. The project will help young people and communities better understand the root causes of the conflict, drastically reduce anger and tension and encourage more moderate positions and promote social cohesion. This allows more children to go to school and to complete their education. At the same time, it improves the quality of education.

We are planning to offer the following services;

  • Create sustainable educational courses including social cohesion training for local communities, teaching English lessons, and other useful skills.
  • We will offer youth book reading sessions named “The books I used to read” to share among them what they have learned.
  • We are also aiming to offer young people to provide basic computer training including (using Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, internet and graphic design training) which will help them to get a job.
