Overview of the Programs
The PPM implements its programs through the following five KEY FUNCTIONS.
Human Rights Training
The Human Rights program aims at empowering young individuals and community leaders to promote human rights in their society and encouraging them to take a critical analysis of their own rights. The Human rights Training program promotes values, beliefs, and attitudes that encourage all individuals to uphold their own rights and those of others. It develops an understanding of everyone's common responsibility to make human rights a reality in their community. This program is an organized effort to transfer knowledge and develop the skills and attitudes that encourage the behavior to promote and protect human rights.
In addition, Our Human Rights training educates participants on the history of human rights, introduction to human rights, basic concepts of international human rights laws, and core treaties. During the training, participants are encouraged to actively debate and discuss the complexities of human rights and how it fits in the context of Myanmar. This program is designed for youths, university students, human rights activists, NGO members, and anyone else with an interest in human rights offered quarterly.
Human Rights Advocacy training
We offer Human Rights Advocacy training quarterly and it is designed for minority youths, university students, human rights activists, local CSO leaders, NGO members, and anyone else with an interest in human rights. The training aims to increase the capacity of minority youth and women to advocate for their rights under national law and international human rights laws. This training covers the basic concept of human rights and advocacy, advocacy strategy, and tactics, the UN human rights systems and the Myanmar government system, etc.
The expected result of the program is participants themselves can become human rights advocates for themselves and for their communities as well. This training will also become a channel for minority people to build their capacity and to promote and protect their rights in their daily rights. This training will provide insightful ways how to defends and advocate for their rights. This training will support them to get to know their rights and to become human rights advocates. This training is design for a 3- half-day training, enrolling with 20 participants especially with minority youths, women, and community leaders across Myanmar, in particular from the conflict-affected areas in order to be able to advocate for their rights.
Human Rights Documentation Program
We provide training in human rights documentation and actively document human rights violations and acts of violence against marginalized communities. Our findings, along with research insights, are used to advocate for the protection of marginalized communities' rights and to advance human rights across Myanmar. Our advocacy strategy includes publications, campaigns, and direct engagement at both domestic and international levels. We also collaborate with international entities—including UN agencies, INGOs, and embassies—to strengthen human rights protections accross Myanmar.
Legal Empowerment Program
The Legal Empowerment Program by Peace Point-Myanmar (PPM) is dedicated to empowering individuals in marginalized communities, especially in Rakhine State, through education, advocacy, and training on legal rights, judicial processes, citizenship laws, land rights, anti-trafficking laws, and civic responsibilities. By enhancing understanding of these areas, the program enables participants to exercise their rights, navigate local justice systems, and protect themselves from exploitation and discrimination. Additionally, the program seeks to improve access to legal services by addressing barriers that prevent underserved groups from obtaining justice and protection under the law.
PPM also conducts research on access-to-justice issues, conducts advocacy, and raises awareness about these communities' challenges. Through its Legal Empowerment Program, PPM strives to cultivate a generation of informed citizens who can actively participate in the democratic process, advocate for their rights, and contribute to building a more equitable society in Myanmar. By providing essential legal knowledge, the Legal Empowerment Program promotes justice, human rights, and social equity, fostering resilience and self-advocacy among vulnerable populations.
